The City of Corcoran is a rural residential community 20 miles northwest of the Twin Cities in Hennepin County. In the 1970s, its population tripled but its growth-without-planning approach had adverse affects. Its growth has slowed but is still robust, with a five-fold increase projected from 2000-2030.

Despite this growth, the city retains a rural character. Corcoran has a clear vision of a vibrant downtown, diversity of housing and spaces for parks and recreation. This vision includes the understanding that development is inevitable but can include protecting resources, such as the community’s three lakes.

Corcoran is looking to CGO for the continuity in resources it needs to implement its well-developed vision.
