City of Jordan Adopts Historic Downtown Design Standards!
Monday December 7, 2009 the Jordan City Council adopted a design standards manual for the historic downtown as recommended by the Planning Commission. They also approved an economic incentive and assistance program for historic renovations as recommended by the Jordan EDA. These measures are intended to help Jordan create and maintain a viable historic downtown that can be a destination for tourists and a continuing source of pride for residents. Implementation will begin in January of 2010.
Throughout this year, the City of Jordan has been working with Municipal Development Group and the Community Growth Options (CGO) program on implementing the City’s recently adopted Comprehensive Plan. Comprehensive plans are guiding documents outlining a community’s vision for their future. Communities use comprehensive plans to help develop policies, regulations, and incentive programs which further their citizen’s priorities and interests.
Jordan decided to begin their work with the CGO program by focusing on the development of Historic Downtown design standards and revision of the commercial zoning district standards, both of which are addressed in the comprehensive plan.
Interested citizens can contact the City of Jordan or visit the Municipal Development Group website for more information about the project.
