The City of Princeton straddles both Sherburne and Mille Lacs Counties, 50 miles northwest of the Twin Cities. Its location “halfway to the lake” makes it an attractive place to live and own a business and as a result the city and surrounding communities have seen rapid growth over the past ten years.

On the west end of the city are the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, consisting of more than 30,000 acres of federally protected wildlife habitat, and the Rum River, designated as Wild and Scenic by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. In addition to its plentiful natural resources, the city’s attractions include the Princeton Splash Park, the Mille Lacs County Depot Museum and an 18-hole golf course

To balance growth with protecting natural resources, Princeton is working to establish an area-wide parks and trails planning board to connect the many local, regional and national recreational opportunities in the area. The city’s vision and commitment to area-wide planning and make it an ideal CGO community.
