The City of Victoria is a fast-growing community 25 miles west of the Twin Cities metro area in Carver County, expected to grow nearly five fold by 2030. The city is bisected by highways 5 and 7 and is nearby the newly completed Highway 212, making it highly accessible while also rich in natural resources and recreation.

Victoria is known as The City of Lakes and Parks. Its abundant natural resources include the Smithtown Bay of Lake Minnetonka and more than 2,000 acres of parkland, including the Carver Park Reserve. Within the reserve is the Lowry Nature Center, trails, a dog park, campgrounds, fishing and the Historic Grimm Farm. A portion of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum that includes apple orchards and vineyards is also within Victoria’s city limits.

Balancing the need to accommodate growth with preservation and stewardship of these natural resources is a key component to the city’s planning process, and makes Victoria an exceptional fit for the CGO program.
