Editorial: Planning for parks, trails now
In these troubled economic times when local governments are feverishly trying to hold the line on taxes and deliver essential services, it may seem silly to think about spending money on parks and trails. But in fact it is the time to do so, when land can be preserved as roads are reconstructed, neighborhoods built and grants become available. Planning is essential, and local residents can have a say in some important future decisions.
