From Policy to Reality: Model Ordinances for Sustainable Development is a first step in pursuit of the goal of creating a package of model ordinances that Minnesota communities can use in charting their futures. This guide offers tools to help make the best choices today for the health of the community tomorrow. Communities can adapt these model ordinances to their own special circumstances as part of a citizen-based community planning process. The guide includes model ordinances addressing: citizen participation, growth management, managing community resources, neighborhood design, infrastructure, resource-efficient buildings, and economic development.
